I wrote a Sound Off that was in the Sunday Times on April 14 headlined, “Where’s the Savings?”
“I need someone to explain to me how the privatization of the liquor stores in Pennsylvania is going to lower the price of a bottle of alcohol or wine if the commonwealth of Pennsylvania is still going to charge and collect the same amount of tax per bottle that they are charging and collecting now. How is a private owner of a liquor store going to lower the price per bottle when they can’t possibly buy the bulk amount of product that the commonwealth purchases? Just my first question of many.”
Now I have read Nathan A. Benefield tell a fairy tale about privatization, ignoring the facts.
